When relationships, identity and desire enter the same courtroom, compromise becomes unavoidable.
October 2026 has a distinctly Tula problem.
Not because everything becomes peaceful. Quite the opposite.
Tula is often reduced to romance, balance and pleasant relationships. In Jyotisha, its deeper function is negotiation: How do two separate interests exist in the same space without one completely consuming the other?
That makes October particularly interesting.
Surya enters Tula on October 17. Shukra, the lord of Tula, is already moving through its own complicated retrograde cycle, having turned vakri on October 3. Budha enters Swati on October 1, then later moves into Vishakha on October 12. By October 24, Shukra enters Chitra while Surya moves into Swati and Budha turns vakri.
The result is not simply “relationship energy.”
It is negotiation under pressure.
And there is a difference.
Negotiation begins when two people want different things.
That can mean partners negotiating commitment. Business partners negotiating money. Families negotiating expectations. Employers and employees negotiating responsibilities. Even an individual negotiating with themselves about what they are willing to sacrifice for a particular goal.
Tula exposes the uncomfortable fact that wanting something does not give you exclusive rights to it.
This is where Surya in Tula becomes particularly interesting. Surya represents selfhood, authority and individual will. Tula represents the other, agreement and relational balance. The question becomes: How much of yourself can you compromise without abandoning yourself?
That is not the same as being agreeable.
In fact, excessive agreeableness can be one of Tula’s less discussed problems.
Sometimes “keeping the peace” simply means postponing the disagreement.
October does not make that particularly easy.
On October 11, Shukra and Mangal form a 90ยฐ relationship. Desire meets assertion. One person wants something; another person has a different agenda. Chemistry can coexist with disagreement. Attraction does not remove negotiation.
Then on October 24, Shukra enters Chitra and Budha turns vakri. This is where I would look closely at agreements, conversations and expectations. What was assumed may need to be stated. What sounded fair may not actually be balanced.
Tula is not about making everybody happy.
It is about establishing a workable equilibriu
