Marriage files: Why good relationships still don’t become marriages

•

Sometimes the relationship is real. The feelings are real. The compatibility is real. And yet, marriage still does not happen.

This is one of the most misunderstood areas of relationship astrology.

People often assume that if two people love each other, marriage should naturally follow. Vedic astrology does not work that simply.

A relationship and a marriage are related events, but they are not the same event.

A relationship can exist without a marriage promise being activated

The 5th house is associated with romance, attraction and emotional involvement. The 7th house concerns formal partnership and marriage. The 2nd house relates to family formation, while the 11th is connected with fulfilment and the realisation of desires.

That distinction matters.

Someone can experience a strong 5th-house relationship while the marriage-related factors remain inactive. The result can be genuine love, years together, repeated proposals, or even an engagement that never becomes a wedding.

This is why simply seeing a strong Venus or a powerful 5th house is not enough to judge marriage. A complete assessment has to examine the 7th house, 7th lord, Venus, relevant supporting houses, Navamsha and Dasha.

Timing can be the missing piece

Sometimes the horoscope supports marriage, but the running Vimshottari Dasha is activating relationship themes rather than marriage formalisation.

This can create a frustrating pattern:

meeting → relationship → commitment → delay → reconsideration → separation or continuation

The relationship may be completely genuine. The timing simply may not support the next step.

Classical timing approaches commonly examine periods connected with the 7th house and its lord, Venus, and supporting marriage houses such as the 2nd and 11th. Transits are then used as additional triggers rather than as the sole cause of marriage.

And then there is the problem of the chart versus the choice

Astrology can show periods of activation. It cannot force two people to make the same decision.

One person may be ready for marriage while the other is not. Families may disagree. Geography may interfere. Finances may become a problem. A previous relationship may remain unresolved.

A favourable marriage period can therefore produce a proposal, an engagement or a serious conversation without necessarily producing a wedding.

That distinction is important.

Marriage timing is a window, not a command.

Final verdict

A good relationship does not automatically become a marriage.

In Vedic astrology, love, partnership and marriage have overlapping but distinct signatures. The relationship may be strong while the marriage timing is weak, delayed or simply not activated.

That is why the right question is not only, “Do we love each other?”

It is whether the horoscope supports formal commitment at that particular stage of life.
